Individual Counselling
Life’s difficulties can be overwhelming and discouraging and perhaps you have lost hope. You may be struggling with anxiety, parenting challenges, postpartum depression, or you may wonder why you’re not experiencing a joy-filled life. As a Christian, I understand the importance of the truth of the gospel to ground our conversations and lead us to the hope we have in Christ. As a social worker, I take into account the many layers of your situation, including the social, emotional, physical and spiritual, and the ways in which your past affects the present. Processing life’s difficulties together can help bring clarity, understanding and perspective to one’s story. Counselling is a space where you will be heard and understood in a gracious and compassionate environment. Together we look at how to navigate life’s difficulties and move forward with hope.
Child Therapy
Counselling is a safe place to process anything from daily life, to anxious thoughts, to traumatic events. I use therapeutic play to connect with elementary-aged children and foster a warm environment for children to feel heard and understood. I support children as they learn to name and navigate emotions, identify triggers and responses, and develop coping skills to help in everyday life. I work within a biblical framework, valuing children as image-bearers, created with unique strengths and needs. I find that children are best understood and supported within the context of their family and I highly encourage collaboration with parents as part of the counselling process. Child therapy can be a combination of the following, based on family needs:
- Meet with parent(s) alone
- Sessions with parent(s) and child present
- Individual session with child
- Parent attends part of the session to discuss what tools and skills are being worked on
